Automake generates Makefile.in files, intended for use with Autoconf.

Automake installs the following:

Installation of Automake

Prepare Automake for compilation:

./configure --prefix=/usr

Compile the package:

make

This package has a test suite available which can perform a number of checks to ensure it built correctly. Should you choose to run it, the following command will do so:

make check

Install the package:

make install

And create a necessary symbolic link:

ln -s automake-1.7 /usr/share/automake
